Folio Privacy Policy

Last updated October 27, 2026. This policy covers the Folio: Budget Planner Mac app (version 1.0) and the usefoliobudget.com website, both from Ruchit Patel

The Folio app doesn't collect your data — your records stay on your Mac. This website is a separate matter: like any website, its hosting providers process requests to serve pages, and support emails you send reach us.

The Folio app

Your information stays on your Mac

Folio is an offline personal-finance app. It does not send your financial records, settings, or usage information to us. It has no advertising, analytics, bank connections, or cloud sync, and it does not require an account.

Local storage

Transactions, budgets, bills, goals, and settings are stored locally. Folio does not separately encrypt its database. Its Touch ID or password lock controls access to the app's screens; it does not encrypt the data file. Enable FileVault and protect your Mac account to help protect stored data.

Authentication

macOS handles Touch ID or password verification. Folio receives the result; it does not receive or store your fingerprint or Mac password.

Files you choose

Folio accesses files you select for import, export, backup, or restore. CSV exports and JSON backups are readable files. Store them somewhere you trust. Files saved in a synced folder may be uploaded by the service managing that folder.

Apple services

Apple handles App Store purchases and may process purchase or diagnostic information under its own privacy policy and your system settings. Folio does not include a third-party analytics or crash-reporting service.

Your choices

You can edit or delete records and export your data in Settings. Settings also provides a reset option. Copies you export or back up remain wherever you saved them until you delete them.

This website

Hosting

usefoliobudget.com is a static website hosted using OpenAI Sites, with network delivery through Cloudflare. When you visit, your browser sends standard request information — such as your IP address, the page requested, browser and device details, and the time of the request — which these providers process to deliver and secure the site and may record in server or security logs under their own policies.

No analytics or cookies from us

We have not added analytics, advertising, tracking scripts, or cookies to this website, and it loads no third-party fonts. The site has no forms or accounts. Our hosting providers may set essential security cookies to protect the website from automated abuse.

Support emails

If you email support@usefoliobudget.com, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message, and use them to respond to your request. Your email provider and ours also process the message. Share only what's needed to explain the problem — please avoid sending financial records, backup files, or unredacted screenshots.

About the software

Folio is provided “as is” for personal budgeting and planning. It is not official accounting software and does not replace professional accounting, tax, or financial advice. Use it at your own discretion, verify important figures independently, and keep backups of your records.

Changes and contact

We'll update this page if our practices change and revise the date above. Questions about this policy can be sent to support@usefoliobudget.com.
